Thousands flock to this free foodie favorite event every year. The Taste of Menudo & Pozole food festival is a celebration of two authentic dishes from some of the region's top culinary masters. Food vendors and local restaurants will be on hand throughout the festival this Sunday November 15th, treating guests to their own spicy spin on the two classic dishes.
Attendees can sample other foods, take home some canned offerings or enter the festival's free raffle to win a turkey for the holidays. A beer and wine garden will also be on hand, along with demonstrations, cookbooks on how to make the most of your home recipes, and promotions for a number of commercial products.
Menudo is a traditional Mexican soup, prepared with beef tripe, hominy and chili. It simmers for hours in various spices as its aroma fills the air. Prepared in many different styles, from Menudo blanco to Menudo verde and rojo, the soup can be offered up in varied ways to suit palates of all types.
Pozole is a famous Mexican stew made from whole hominy kernels, chicken, turkey, pork, pork rinds, chili peppers and other seasonings. Guests will be able to try both vegan and vegetarian versions of this classic stew at the festival, as vendors and eateries present their own spins on these two very traditional cultural dishes.
