Once a year, Jet Propulsion Labs (JPL) in Pasadena opens its doors to the public for a two-day special event. It's your chance to peek behind the scenes and research labs of NASA and Caltech, where missions to other planets are planned, outer space robots are crafted, and mission control manages the Mars rovers.
Guests of this event, which takes place on May 26 and 27, will get to see the clean room where space-probing robots are constructed. They'll take a tour of mission control, check out new Mars rover prototypes, and walk through the machine shop. See probes that will one day explore outer space.
Tickets to JPL's Open House are free, however you must have a confirmed RSVP due to the popularity of this event. Can't get tickets? JPL also hosts a monthly lecture series as well as free weekday tours for groups and individuals on an advance reservation basis.
